DESIGN STUDIO : PROJECT 3A & 3B

A : STORY TELLING & NARRATIVE: ' MY BUILDING, MY ARCHITECTURE '

This is a small project that give by our tutors. First we need to choose a building that located in Malaysia and pay a visit to it. This assignment is to create a short video that can explain the design & spatial concept and approach of the building and also how and why the building was designed.

The building that my group chosen is the PJ Trade Centre. It is a eco-friendly building. The design concept of this building is to reduce the usage of energy and make it more eco-friendly to the nature. There is a lot of trees planted at a open area infront of the entrance. The watering system of the plantation is a cycle of collecting the rain water. All the trees planted in a planting box that stick to a piping system that lead in the rain water from the water tank. I love this building a lot because it's very cool even there's no fan or air-conditional in the public area. The reason of it is there is a lot of trees around it. This is also a light saving building. The car-park of this building have lesser built-in lightning system because they lead in the sunlight by making a vent block screen in the car-park that reduce the usage of lightning system.

B : DREAM SPACE FOR THE USER: ' A HIDEOUT '

This is the last project of the whole module. We were given few Character to choose as our client and create a hideout that fit our client. The character that i choose is Jackie Chan. First we need to do research from different aspect and collect all the information about our client then finalize what element fit in our client and how to arrange the space usage that fit our client. Then we need to transform all our ideas into design elements then into a final 3-D model. There's a limited space for us to build the hideout so we need to plan it wisely.

This assignment is hard but fun. It's a combination of all the past assignment. I learn how to assign the usage of place logically and also consider about the arrangement of space fit my client's characteristic. It's also the first time of making a 'house' model. I've seen a lot of those model around us like those contractor proposing their buildings to their client by using a small scale model. It's not easy to make a model in a small scale and those details in it. Our tutors help a lot during the whole tutorial time. Design is always not 100% because there's always things to be improve and changes. It's not easy to build a structure for the client that fit his activities, personality, interest and etc. Last but not least, construct and develop a building for client is not easy but it's fun.
