In this project, we were required to carry an investigation on a historical building. We having a site visit to the chosen building to observe and investigate it's background, current condition and the challenge that the conservation of the building facing.

PROJECT 2 & 3 : GENIUS LOCI

PROJECT 2 & 3 IS A CONTINUOUSLY PROJECT ALL ABOUT THE GENIUS LOCI OF THE SPACE. STARTING OF PROJECT 2, WE HEAD TO BUKIT CINA, MELAKA AS OUR SITE VISIT TOUR THAT WE COLLECT SITE ANALYSIS AND ALSO VARIOUS KIND OF DATA AROUND THE AREA.

PROJECT 3 : VISITOR INTERPRETIVE CENTRE ( VIC )
BASED ON THE GENIUS LOCI AND THE POETIC QUALITY WE OBSERVE AND ANALYZE IN BUKIT CINA, WE THEN NEEDED TO DESIGN A VIC THAT CARRY IT'S OWN GENIUS LOCI THAT RELATED TO THE SITE.





PROJECT 1A & B : JOURNEY OF THE 5 SENSES

POETIC QUALITY OF THE BUILDING IS THE MAIN ELEMENT IN THIS DESIGN STUDIO. THE FIRST PROJECT IS DIVIDED INTO TWO PART WHICH THE FIRST PART REQUIRED US TO FIND PRECEDENTS STUDY ABOUT A CENTRIC AND A LINEAR BUILDING AND RESEARCH ON IT. 


THEN, THE SECOND PART IS AN EXTENSION OF WHAT WE DO IN PART A. WE NEED TO DESIGN TWO WALKWAY WHICH IS A LINEAR WALKWAY AND A CENTRIC WALKWAY WITH POETIC QUALITY IN IT THAT WE ATTACH TO THE GIVEN ELEMENT -  A SONG AND A SHORT STORY. THE SONG IS VIVA LA VIDA AND THE SHORT STORY IS THE MAGIC CUP.

PROJECT 2 : UNDERSTANDING FORCES IN BUILDING CONSTRUCTION


IN THIS ASSIGNMENT, WE WERE TAUGHT ABOUT TWO DIFFERENT STRUCTURE WHICH IS TENSILE AND SHELL. THIS ASSIGNMENT NEEDED US TO CHOOSE ONE OF THE STRUCTURE AND FIND A EXISTING STRUCTURE WHICH USES THE CONSTRUCTION METHOD. AFTER STUDYING AND RESEARCH ABOUT OUR PRECEDENT BUILDING, WE CAME OUT OF SERIES OF DIAGRAM, DRAWINGS AND PHOTO ABOUT OUR UNDERSTANDING OF THE CONSTRUCTION METHOD AND ALSO A STUDY MODEL AND A DETAIL MODEL OF IT.

PROJECT 1 : SKELETAL CONSTRUCTION - A TEMPORARY BUS STOP


TO UNDERSTAND ABOUT SKELETAL STRUCTURE, WE CARRY OUT AN ASSIGNMENT THAT RELATED TO IT. WE NEED TO DESIGN A TEMPORARY BUS STOP WITH REQUIREMENT. THE STRUCTURE OF THE BUS STOP MUST BE SKELETAL STRUCTURE AND THE MATERIAL THAT WE USE NEEDED TO REPRESENT IT'S ACTUAL CONSTRUCTION MATERIAL. BY COMPLETING THIS ASSIGNMENT, WE CLEARLY UNDERSTAND HOW SKELETAL STRUCTURE ARE USE IN OUR DAILY CONSTRUCTION AND HOW THE DETAILS ARE IN THE SKELETAL STRUCTURE.

Proposing Passive Building Design Strategies

IN A GROUP OF 6, WE WERE REQUIRED TO CHOOSE A BUILDING THAT IS NOT MORE THAN 3 STOREY. AFTER THAT, WE NEED TO CARRY OUT A SERIES OF ANALYSIS ABOUT THE BUILDING AND THE SURROUNDING LIKE MATERIAL OF THE BUILDING, SUN & WIND PATH, INDOOR AND OUTDOOR TEMPERATURE, HUMID LEVEL AND ETC. THEN WE WERE ASK TO CALCULATE THE HEAT GAIN INSIDE THE BUILDING AND FIND OUT WHICH PART OF IT HAS THE HIGHEST HEAT GAIN THEN WE STARTED TO PROPOSE OUR IDEA OF PASSIVE DESIGN TO REDUCE THE HEAT GAIN IN THE CERTAIN AREA. TO PROVE THAT OUR DESIGN WORKS FOR THE BUILDING, WE NEED TO CALCULATE THE NEW HEAT GAIN VALUE WITH THE NEW MATERIAL AND DESIGN WE USE.
